Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson has hailed newly acquired striker Yakubu Ayegbeni as a 'born goal scorer'.

The Nigerian scored on his debut for the Foxes and Eriksson was left pleased with his overall contribution.

"Yakubu was good on his debut and he should be very good for us," added Eriksson.

"If you pass the ball to him, even if he has a defender at his back, he keeps it and he'll always do something special with it.

"He's a goal scorer. He's a born goal scorer. So I'm very happy he's here."

"Yakubu is a tremendous signing for Leicester City. He will bring pace, power and experience to the club.

"He has captained his country, played in major competitions and is a first-class footballer, who I am certain will help us to achieve our aims of moving up in the Championship.

"We are delighted that he is joining us until the end of the season and I'm sure that the supporters will enjoy watching him in action."

Victor Anichebe has signed a new contract with Everton.

The Nigerian and midfielder Seamus Coleman both penned four-and-a-half year deals, keeping them at the club until 2015.

Anichebe's previous deal was due to run out in the summer and there had been uncertainty about his Everton future after it emerged that talks had stalled over a new deal.

But the 22 year-old forward came out to insist that his future lay with the Toffees, scorching the hopes of a number of Premier League clubs waiting to pounce.

Anichebe, out with a knee injury from pre-season, has since forced his way back into the first team, making three starts and three substitute appearances for the club.

NFF President Aminu Maigari and the Acting General Secretary, Musa Amadu will meet with Fifa President Sepp Blatter and General Secretary, Jerome Valcke at Fifa headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday, February 3.

The NFF top brass with hold extensive talks with the Fifa chieftains on the possibility of more Fifa goal projects for Nigeria, and quickly too.

The Fifa Development Officer for West Africa, Sampon Kablan, who is on a visit to Nigeria, met with the Members of NFF Executive Committee in Abuja on Tuesday and further drew their attention to the fact that Nigeria can benefit far more than it is currently enjoying.

“I am happy to see the peace and understanding that exists between the Ministry of Sports and the NFF. It is a good thing, and this will propel development programmes.

“All I need from you is permission and support to show positive aggression to secure more FIFA development programmes. You are behind schedule and should be benefitting more.

“Some countries like Ghana and Ivory Coast are on their fourth development projects, while Cape Verde is on the fifth. Nigeria, a great football nation by all means, has only been able to get one, the Technical Centre, and one artificial turf through the ‘Win-In-Africa-For-Africa’ programme that was launched as a result of the first Fifa World Cup in Africa,” stated Kablan.

At different meetings with the Honourable Minister/Chairman, National Sports Commission, Professor Taoheed Adedoja and the NFF Executive Committee, Kablan has suggested that Fifa should take the lead in the construction of a befitting, ultra-modern Secretariat for the Nigeria Football Federation
