Flight Hitches Keep Eagles Coach In Obama’s Country
FOOTBALL:
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF have informed that Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia will now return to the country on January 9 as the team’s camp opens on January 10 for the Obama Cup tournament.
The former Flying Eagles coach who was in Turkey towards the end of last year to monitor some of the players he intends to invite for the March 27 African Cup Of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, Complete Sports gathered differed his return for logistics reasons.
Complete Sports also gathered from a reliable source that the Super Eagles coach who was expected to return to the country on January 3, could not secure seat in the Air craft scheduled to convey him to Nigeria.
Spokesman of Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire who spoke with Complete Sports on Sunday confirmed that Siasia who has been mandated by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to qualify Nigeria for the 2012 African Cup of Nations will return on Sunday.

“Aside the arrival date, other programmes of the Super Eagles coach remain unchanged.”

West Brom Star Backs Osaze

Chris Brunt has backed Peter Odemwingie to bounce back from his penalty misery in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Manchester United.
The Nigeria international missed the opportunity to put his side 2-1 up against the league leaders by dragging his 63rd-minute spot-kick wide.
But Brunt is hoping Odemwingie can rediscover the form that has made him Albion’s six-goal top scorer this term when they visit Fulham on Tuesday
“I hope I get a chance to take a penalty again,” he said.
“I missed one earlier in the season against Arsenal and got booted off them.
“Peter scored the penalty at West Ham and when he put the ball on the spot we were all pretty confident he would score,” he said.
“He’s going through one of those spells at the moment when nothing seems to be going right for him in front of goal.
“I’m sure that will turn as long as he keeps working at it.
“He’s done very well this season so we won’t hold that against him.”
Brunt admitted the Baggies could not have done much more to beat the Red Devils.
But he insisted they had no-one to blame but themselves for not ending United’s unbeaten league record this season.
“There wasn’t much more we could have done to try and win the game,” he added.
“That’s been the general feeling over the Christmas period.
“We’ve created a lot of chances and shot ourselves in the foot by giving away sloppy goals.
“It was the same today and you can’t give teams like Manchester United goals from set-pieces and goals after two minutes into the game.
“We let ourselves down with that – but we created a lot of chances and we didn’t take them.
“That’s been our downfall over the Christmas period.”

Fenerbahce Lead In Taiwo Chase

Super Eagles left back, Taye Taiwo will soon make a decision on his future between two clubs that lead the race for his signature. The defender whom sources say does not favour prolonging his contract at French champions Marseille will make a decision between Fenerbahce or Tottenham Hotspur in England.
Despite his recent comments in the French media, Taiwo’s agent is in negotiations with other clubs because Marseille are refusing to play ball in extending the contract of his client.
Fenerbahce are reportedly in pole position for Taiwo and are in contact with the defender.
Fenerbahce are desperately searching for a left back, and have launched an ‘Operation Taiwo’.
Last week, the Turkish club reportedly faxed an offer for Taiwo. Marseille’s response: four million euros. Fenerbahce were shocked when they received the response from the French club, for a defender that is out of contract in June. So, they have started working for the transfer fee of the Nigerian to be brought down.
Fenerbahce’s aim is to haggle and bring down the price of the defender to two million euros. Fener are ready for a fight, just the same way the club fought to bring Senegal international Mamadou Niang to Turkey.
