Mascherano Hails Eagles

Argentina and Barcelona defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano has rated  the Super Eagles  that played in yesterday’s international friendly match in Bangladesh against his team  ahead of the players which Nigeria paraded during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The Nigerian side lost 3-1 to Lionel Messi inspired Argentina national team barely 48 hours after defeating Madagascar in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Antananarivo; and the former Liverpool midfield ace  said his side played a very tough game against a very strong opposition.

"It was a difficult game against a very strong team. The names today were different from the team at the World Cup and they made it hard for us,” he said.

Meanwhile coach Siasia has also showered accolades on his players saying fatigue occasioned by the tight fixtures and travelling arrangement played a big role in the loss.

"We don’t want to give excuses, but the fact is that the boys were tired.”

"We played against Madagascar on Sunday on a very bad pitch, then flew 14 hours to get here and played two days later. It was very difficult for some of the players, especially the ones who played 90 minutes in Madagascar. But it was a good game, and we tried our best but we lost.”
