YOBO, NSOFOR SHOOT DOWN MADAGASCAR 2-0

Obinna Nsofor made good on his pre-match boast when he scored the second of Nigeria’s two goals as the Super Eagles shot down a hard fighting Barrea of Madagascar 2-0 on a bumpy Stade Municipal de Mahamasina in Antananarivo this afternoon.
After a goalless first-half, in which the younger Madagascans were more enterprising, coach Samson Siasia rang the changes and brought in Emmanuel Emenike for Ahmed Musa at the interval but it was not until the 68th minute before the Madagascan defence was breached when Joseph Yobo toe-poked a feeble clearance off Mikel Obi’s corner kick.
The Super Eagles grew in confidence and the second goal was not long in coming. Nsofor created enough space for himself on the left side of the Madagascan defence and unleashed a right-footed shot that the opposing goalie failed to see until it rested in the back of the net.
The Super Eagles held on for Siasia’s first competitive away win and are now level on 10 points with group leaders Guinea who play Ethiopia later today (Sunday) in Conakry.
NIGERIA LINE UP: 16. Dele Aiyenugba, 2. Joseph Yobo, 3. Elderson Echiejile, 4. Joel Obi (Chinedu Obasi), 5. Efe Ambrose, 6. Chibuzor Okonkwo, 9. Victor Anichebe, 10. John Mikel Obi, 12. Ahmed Musa (Emmanule Emenike), 15. Ike Uche(Fengor Ogude), 18. Obinna Nsofor
