GHANA OPTIMISTIC OF RETAINING AYC TITLE

Ghana's Under-20 national youth coach Orlando Wellington is optimistic his side will retain the Africa Youth U20 trophy.

Speaking after his charges completed a successful two week training camp in Naivasha, Wellington said that with nine international players in his stable, he was confident his team will make an impact in the forthcoming tournament set to kick off on Sunday in South Africa.

He attributed Ghana's strong showing to a strong youthful structures in Ghana saying that every team in the Ghana Premier League is required to have youth teams ranging from Under-12, 17, and 20 that participate in a competitive league.

"We have invested immensely in the youth and that is why we have achieved a lot. Once you start with the youth teams, your work as a coach becomes easier especially when you are conducting any selection.”
