Zimbabwe’s Caf Champions League representative Dynamos head to Algeria confident of a performance that will see them through to the next stage of the competition. The Harare giants take a comfortable 4-1 win into Moloudia Club d’ Alger ‘s backyard and according to veteran midfielder Desmond Maringwa the current Dynamos side has the hunger to go far in the competition.
Maringwa was in the Dynamos team that reached and lost the Caf Champions League final to Asec Mimosa in 1998 and believes the current side exhibits same ambition as that 1988 side if not more. Maringwa was however optimistically cautious saying “ Although we carry a healthy lead the match is still equally poised and there is still a full match to be played”
As for the Dynamos approach to the return leg Maringwa said they will be going for an outright win despite playing away. “ We will go out and play our normal game , we don’t want a situation where we will sit back and defend because we are bound to make mistakes and be punished “ said Maringwa.
Maringwa believes attack is the best form of defence and went on to say “There is no way you can defend against the North Africans for 90 minutes and get away with it, they will easily punish you. The match we played a fortnight ago in Harare was the first half and we still have another 90 minutes of play so we have to carry on from where we left,” concluded the 33-year-old Dynamos player
