The Super Falcons began their quest for a place in the London 2012 Olympic Games football event with an emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Namibia at the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday.
The reigning African queens put their superiority on parade early in the game subjecting their Southern African foes to severe torture in the seven goals thriller.
The Namibians offered little opposition to the clear superior skills of the Nigerian girls with the trio of Desire Oparanozie,Perpetua Nkwocha and Emuje Aighebva all grabbing a brace each to give the Falcons a comfortable 6-0 half time lead.
With expectations for more goals by the Uche Eucharia girls running high amongst the appreciable crowd that watched the game, the Super Falcons wasted unpardonable scoring chances in the second half until Rita Chikwelu struck the 7th goal of the game.
The return leg fixture comes up in Windhoeck,Namibia in two weeks time. The Super Falcons will confront Ghana later in the month in an All African Games qualifier.
