Osaze, Enyeama, Kalu Uche For AIT Awards

Who, was the nation’s best footballer in the year 2010?

That is the mystery that will be unraveled on March 8 in Port Harcourt as the AIT football Awards is hosted by the Rivers State Government of Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Meanwhile, to add tension to what promises to be a fun filled night, the three front runners for the most prized trophy, have confirmed their presence on the night.

Last year’s winner Osaze Odemnwigie who has shifted base to West Bromwich Albion in England has suddenly found himself gunning for a second sucessive title.

Nigeria’s savior at the world cup, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is also in the running for a prize that is hardly won by goalkeepers, given the visibility of attackers.

Also expected at the Presidential Hotel venue of the Awards is Kalu Uche who produced a superlative performance at a world cup that did not see too many Nigerian stars at their best.

Marketing Consultants Neo Media have confirmed the booking itinerary of the three players and expressed delight at their presence which will further boost the quality of the awards.

“ Awards suffer for lack of the presence of the principal characters that is why we are happy that they have found time out of their busy schedules to be physically present” Mr Ehi Braimah, Chief Executive of the marketing firm said.

He cited even the example of the CAF Awards where there is always difficulty in getting the awardees to attend.

“ But for time constraints we were planning to fly in the TP Mazembe team that did Africa proud at the FIFA World club cup “ he added.

A press conference is to be addressed today in Lagos to further unveil plans for the award.
