SIASIA GUNS FOR ARSENAL YOUNGSTER

Set To Storm Emirates For Wenger Meeting:

Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has set his sights on talking players with Nigerian origin all over Europe into pledging their international futures to the Super Eagles, starting with Arsenal’s Chukwuemeka Aneke.
Soon after his official presentation last week in Abuja, Siasia told KickOffNigeria that an intermediary had set up a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and he would be visiting London in the coming weeks.
“I have had someone make contact with Arsene Wenger, and we hope to have a meeting in the coming weeks,” Siasia said.
“We have also asked him to set up meetings with other European coaches with Nigerian players in their squad and we will meet with all of them.”
The object of that Wenger meeting, according to the coach, is 17-year-old England youth international Aneke.
“We want to talk to all those players who are eligible to play for Nigeria and see if they will come. If they agree, fine. If they don’t, then we move on. And Aneke is one of those players.”
Although Aneke was born in England, he qualifies to represent Nigeria at senior level through his parents, who are Nigerian.
Aneke was described on Arsenal website as an incisive, intelligent ball-playing midfielder who made his breakthrough into the Reserve team last season and put in some solid midfield performances while continuing to impress in the Under-18s.
The Nigerian by blood and origin joined Arsenal on May 01,2001 and was born on July 03, 1993 in Newham,London
Siasia is also keen to meet with Manchester City’s on loan defender Nedum Onuoha to clarify his international status once and for all.
Onuoha turned down a chance to represent Nigeria at this year’s World Cup, saying he wanted to establish himself at club level first before making a decision on his international allegiance.
Siasia says there is only one window of opportunity available, “I need to know those who will be with us so that I can include them in our planning.
“After now, we need to focus on working with those who are committed to playing for Nigeria with passion and commitment.”
