OSAZE BAG'S BARCLAYS PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD

Super eagles forward Osaze Odemwingie has been awarded the Barclays player of the month for April, his second following an earlier award for September.

The award was made today by the Barclays award panel made up of representatives of the game’s governing bodies, media and fans.

Odemwingie was by far the outstanding performer in April with a five star display in West Brom’s 2-1 defeat of Liverpool where he won two penalties converted by Chris Brunt.

He followed up with a starring role in the classic 3-2 away win at Sunderland, where he set up two goials and scored one followed by goals against Chelsea, Tottenham and the sweet derby win over Aston Villa to become the first ever West Brom player to score four consecutive league goals.

He had been widely hailed when he scored against Chelsea to equal the 12 goals by Robert Earnshaw, which has been the Premier League record for the club.

He surpassed that when he scored goal number 13 against Tottenham and 14 against Aston Villa to become their highest scorer of all time in what has been an outstanding season for the team who will be hard pressed to keep him from admirers and prospective clubs.

This season, he has shone brightly against the League’s big guns and scored against Arsenal in that famous victory at the emirates earlier in the season but it is overall contribution to the Baggies has been his 14 goal tally with two games to go .
